9 Things You Should Do Every Night

Nine things you should do every night to have a better day
9 things you should do every night

Read a Book

It's always best to unplug and do something relaxing before bed. Put away all of your electronics and pull out a book. Focusing on the words on the pages will help you zone out and wind down. A night time ritual that includes less screen time lets your body know that it's time for some Zs, so before switching off the lights, pick up a good read.

Tidy Up

Waking up to a messy space is never a good feeling. Before bed, fold and put away laundry or stray clothing laying around, run the vacuum or broom over the floor and make sure there are no dirty dishes piled up in the sink. In the morning, you'll feel better about the space you're in.

Write A To-Do List

Rather than let your mind race all night long about what's on tomorrow's agenda, just jot down all of the things you need to do and consider yourself organised and ready for the day ahead. Creating a schedule for things you need to do and accomplish once the sun rises allows for the thoughts to escape your mind while you're sleeping.

Do Some Yoga

Stretching can help you relax immensely and releasing the day's negative energy from your body with a nice calming yoga session. Relieving tension in your shoulders and back can help you get better sleep and be really beneficial in reducing insomnia and restlessness. Unroll your mat before you wind down and your mind (and body!) will thank you.

Wash Your Face

As if it needs to be said, washing your face before bed is a necessity in more ways than one. Not only does it clear your pores of all the dust and dirt lingering from the day but the practice is relaxing and has long term benefits to helping your skin thrive.

Prep For Tomorrow Night's Dinner

Prep tomorrow's dinner ingredients tonight to help things run smoothly during your after work rush. That means chopping your vegetables, preparing your meats and pre-cooking your carbs. This way, whether your next day flies by in a flash or gets a little too hectic you're already one step ahead.

Drink Water

Having a glass of water before bed has its benefits, like helping to burn calories, balance your bodies nutrients and cleanse your body. Note: If you suffer from heart or kidney problems, drinking water before bed could be a bad idea. The extra liquid will put pressure on your body that might make for a more uncomfortable night and create other health problems.

Iron Tomorrow's Outfit

Raise your hand if some mornings involve you staring at your closet for 20 minutes trying to figure out what to wear. Solve that problem by picking out (and ironing) your look of the day the night before. Just in case, pick out a safe option of attire if the look you have in mind doesn't exactly look the way you want. (Hey, we've all been there.) This way, you've saved yourself some stress while trying to get dressed!

Eat Fruit

Fruits like cherries and bananas are beneficial to eat before bed. Melatonin, which is found in cherries, helps control your body's internal clock, which always needs a good reset every now and again. Bananas help to promote sleep and they contain muscle relaxing nutrients like magnesium and potassium which double as carbs to help you sleep well. Sounds good to us!
